Puppy Culture in German Shepherd Breeding
Puppy Culture is a science-backed, structured program for raising puppies during their critical first 12 weeks of life, optimizing brain development, building emotional resilience, and preventing future behavioral problems. Haus Mahr utilizes Puppy Culture principles to provide structured early development.

Puppy Start Right Program
The Puppy Start Right Program is a science-based puppy socialization program developed by Dr. Kenneth M. Martin, a board-certified veterinary behaviorist and Debbie Martin, a registered veterinary technician with a specialty certification in veterinary behavior. The Puppy Start Right curriculum helps puppies develop social skills, addresses common puppy behavior concerns and teaches basic manners. Lara Mahr has been a Certified Puppy Start Right Instructor since 2012. She has taught classes at numerous locations including veterinary clinics.
The Puppy Start Right Program covers:
- Socialization: fosters positive interactions with new sounds, surfaces, objects, and people
- Problem Solving: addresses common concerns such as house training, crate training, nipping/chewing
- Basic Manners: teaches focus, sit, down, come, and loose-leash walking.
