Location
We are located on a small hobby farm in Southwest Michigan. Our dogs are raised in our home, not in kennels. They are treated as cherished members of the family. We are conveniently located within a two-and-a-half-hour drive of major metropolitan areas, including Detroit, Michigan, and Chicago, Illinois.
Our Lines
Haus Mahr German Shepherds & Training specializes in Kirscental herding lines. Kirschental herding lines are known for being highly trainable and eager to engage, making them well-suited for active pet homes, advanced obedience and service work. They typically display moderate, manageable drive paired with an excellent off-switch, allowing them to transition seamlessly between work and home life. Kirschental herding lines are valued for their beauty, sound minds, resilience, and adaptability. We also have a few dogs from Czech working lines that have excelled in detection and private security.
Lara Mahr, Owner & Certified Dog Trainer
Lara’s mission is strengthening the bond between dogs and their people through science-based training. Haus Mahr German Shepherds & Training, LLC follows guidelines set by the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (AVSAB). Lara earned the Karen Pryor Certified Training Partner (KPA CTP) designation in 2010. This certification requires a trainer to complete a comprehensive course, written exam, practical training evaluation, and teaching assessment. It is recognized by veterinary professionals in many countries. Lara has participated in numerous activities and sports with her dogs.
