The Kirschental bloodline was developed by Karl Fuller in Germany. The name Kirschental is from Stettbach, Germany which is known for its beautiful countryside and abundance of cherry trees. Karl Fuller dedicated his life to improving the German Shepherd Dog. He carefully selected dogs for his breeding program based on various traits including conformation, drive, endurance, health, and intelligence. Karl Fuller passed away on September 22, 2012, however, a few dedicated preservation breeders in the U.S. and Canada continue to breed German Shepherds with outstanding working ability from his original lines.
As a preservation breeder, Haus Mahr German Shepherds is committed to ensuring the Kirschental bloodline continues. Kirschental herding lines are known for being highly trainable and eager to engage, making them well-suited for active pet homes, service work, and advanced obedience. They typically display moderate, manageable drive paired with excellent off-switches, allowing them to transition seamlessly between work and home life. Kirschental herding lines are valued for their sound minds, resilience, and adaptability.
