At Haus Mahr German Shepherds & Training, our mission is to develop confident, well-adjusted, and versatile German Shepherds that thrive as loyal family companions and reliable working partners. We are committed to strengthening the bond between dog and human by providing training with clear communication, structured guidance, and individualized programs that bring out each dog’s full potential.

Our training is tailored to German Shepherds but it is also effective for other breeds and mixed breeds.

Our training helps dogs reach their full potential. We focus on developing calm behavior, strong engagement, and problem solving skills. German Shepherds are our passion but we train dogs of all shapes, sizes, and breeds/mixes. Every dog deserves training that is tailored to their needs. We offer evaluations for AKC Virtual Home Manners (VHM), Trick Dog, and Canine Good Citizen (CGC, CGCA & CGCU).

We use vet-approved, science-based training methods that get results.

At Haus Mahr German Shepherds & Training, we believe the best training is through motivation, communication, and consistency- not fear or force. By using science-based methods, we encourage dogs to make good choices, build resilience, and enjoy learning new things. This approach creates dogs that are confident, focused, and eager to work alongside their humans.

Looking for a new family companion or working partner?

Puppies are only available every few years and come with an extensive contract. We are highly selective regarding puppy placement. No puppies or dogs will be placed in homes for training in bite sports or personal protection. Puppies and dogs that show aptitude for service work may be placed with qualified organizations or individuals with disabilities on a case by case basis. Please let us know if you are planning on doing specialized training with your dog.

We support rescue.

If you looking for a new dog in the immediate future, we can help you find a family companion through a reputable rescue program. Haus Mahr German Shepherds & Training is available to assist non-profit rescues in matching puppies and dogs with loving homes. We advertise dogs (not our own) in need of a forever homes on our Rescue page. Low or no cost training services are available to rescue organizations.

Ethical breeders support rescue efforts by offering education, resources, and training guidance. They make a lifelong commitment to the dogs from their programs. When breeders, rescues, and trainers collaborate, more dogs are set up for success. Working together strengthens the future of the German Shepherd Dog breed and improves outcomes for dogs and families alike.
